Project Name: The Data Center Colocation and Migration Project
TASKS & DUTIES:
- Maintain agreed project scope and objectives throughout the project duration.
- Maintain detailed migration roadmap & project plan including timelines, milestones, and dependencies.
- Engage necessary stakeholders and maintain established clear communication channels.
- Continuously assess risks and create mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with B&C and other stakeholders to address OMB and OTI requirements related to the CP submission.
- Pre- Execution/Implementation tasks:
- Conduct a comprehensive inventory of hardware, software, applications, and data & artifacts.
- Map interdependencies between systems to avoid disruptions.
- Evaluate current vs. target environments
- Execution/Implementation tasks:
- Coordinate and collaborate with technical teams for:
- Infrastructure setup in the new data center
- Application migration and testing
- Network configuration and security alignment
- Oversee data transfer and validation to ensure integrity and continuity.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Track progress against the migration plan using project management tools.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders and leadership.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards.
- Facilitate post-migration reviews and performance tuning.
- Ensure documentation and knowledge transfer for post migration support.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing medium- to large-scale IT infrastructure projects, including cloud migrations, data center relocations, and multi-phase initiatives with distinct sub-projects and deliverables.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering projects within complex organizational environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to gather requirements and translate them into clear technical and functional specifications.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure (servers, environments, and networks), SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid), enterprise architecture principles, programming fundamentals, and database platforms (DB2, Oracle, and MS SQL Server).
- Highly structured and detail-oriented, with strong documentation and note-taking skills, and demonstrated ability in conflict resolution and negotiation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project, Visio, Word, and Excel.
- Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and executive-level communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across all organizational levels.
- Hands-on experience with project management and portfolio management tools (e.g., ServiceNow SPM, MS Project, Jira).
- Demonstrated expertise in risk management, change control processes, budgeting, and financial tracking.
- PMP certification (or equivalent project management certification) preferred.
